With over 24 years experience, Methven Heliski is a fantastic heli-ski operator that attracts people from all over the world including Burton Snowboards, who book the month of August out each year to film their riders showcasing next year's equipment.
There are over 250 named runs throughout the permit area. Groups quickly disappear from the helipad base at Glenfalloch Station into the mountains, only to return for a superb lunch and drinks at the farm at the end of the day!
The terrain is both remote and spectacular, with many runs over the glaciers. From the many peaks skiers can gaze at views of both the Pacific Ocean in the East and the Tasman Sea in the West, before skiing runs exceeding 1000 vertical metres.
Methven Heliski director Kevin Boekholt, a lead guide for CMH heli-skiing in BC Canada with over 22 seasons of guiding experience with CMH, describes his vast experience over the world's best heli-ski as: "CMH has the most reliable powder snow and best tree skiing on the planet, Greenland has the most unique scenery with icebergs and descents to the ocean, but New Zealand stands out as well for it's great alpine terrain with variety from easy glacier runs to big mountain skiing"
With Methven on the doorstep of Australia, it is a great change to get started on what could easily become your "heli-skiing obsession"!
